Saturday afternoon at Ice Cube Gallery
about my work for Visual Improv
about the "lost earring sisterhood"
I invited friends to share their orphaned earrings to become part of several of the sculptures. This appeal was natural to the general spirit of my work, i.e., bringing new life to that which has endured beyond its original purpose (in this case, beyond its original mate) and incorporating objects each with their own histories and mysteries. It was a genuine treat to receive packages from friends far and near, and to carry their generous offerings into "Visual Improv." Pictured below are some of the contributors who are local and have been able to visit the show. Many thanks to dear friends who are participating across the miles and years: Catherine Haskins, Genny Lim, Jenni Gomez, Peggy Lore, Sandra Schaffer, Kathy Knaus, Theresa Anderson, Maurene Flory, Connie Snyder, Marilyn Stranske, Lindy Lyman, Marianne Dolan, Linda Evenoff, Patricia Aaron, Michelle Soule', Carol Browning, Barb Hirokawa Gal, and Sanneke Jang
